Minutes of the Meeting

• Guests of the Brays: Heather and Russ Nelson.

• The Burns left early to go to a birthday dinner at the Lobster House. They missed a good meal with the club.

• Reports were given on ski trips over the winter.
  

  • LaPetite: Bob Meyer reported that the skiing was excellent and the renovations on the cabins were very nice. 8 couples went. See the cabins..

  • Cathy & Bill Petersen took a ski trip to Vale. Bill reported on it.

  • Bill Hayman and children went to Squaw Valley and Heavenly. Bill reported on their trip. (Chrystal mentioned later that she and Bill went skiing in Austria.)

  • Dave reported that he and Tellie Bray went to Zermatt skiing this winter. If anyone wants to see pictures of their trip, they are on the web -- Click Here.

  • Jim Thorp mentioned that they went to Costa Rica; forgot to take their skis, but just as well - couldn't find any conditions for snow skiing; went snorkeling instead.

  • Bob Gibbs and Sue went cross-country skiing on the Lake Placid ski trails; recommended the Lake Placid Club trail. Bob also told about his plastic boots falling apart. When he went to the Dave Jones Sport Shop to purchase new, he learned that plastic boots are not a good boot, often break and only last 6-8 years. Also that the open ended boots are not that good either and are passe.

• Acknowledgment cards were passed around from the Boy Scouts Council and from Sandy Krebs for our contribution on Bill's behalf to the Scouts.

• Sue and Bob Gibbs were thanked for being the hosts.

• Dave Bray was acknowledged and thanked for all his hours of putting the club on the web. Most everyone present had visited our web site at least once. Good job, Dave!

• May meeting was discussed. Jim suggested the ladies wear fancy hats and the men wear either a crazy sports coat or vest - like they do at the actual Derby Day race. It was agreed that we do this. Jim may make a traditional Derby Day main dish - something with squirrel in it. Hope everyone is hungry!!!

• Carolyn shared a post card that was being sold by the Adirondack Club; if anyone interested in buying a packet of 10 for $3.00, see Carolyn.

• Duplicate ski club photos were passed around for anyone to take.

• Future Meetings

  • May - Derby Day, Saturday, May 2, 4:30 p.m. Hosts: Margaret and Jim Thorp. It will be a pot luck dinner with Carolyn and Dorothy doing the calling. Bob Meyer and Dave Bray are in charge of the race tickets.

  • June - no meeting.

  • July - Saturday, July 25, 2:00 p.m. Hosts: Ron and Doris Frazer. Lamb roast.

  • August - no meeting.
