Potsdam Apres Ski Club Meeting Minutes
Meeting hosts: Cathy and Bill Petersen
Sunday, December 13, 1998

Christmas meeting was held at the Petersens. Present: Brays, Casper/Machinak, Frazers, Gibbs, Haymans, Kaczkas, LaComb/McGrath, Lowells, Meins, Meyers, Nelsons, Partches, Petersens, and Thorps.

The gathering started with hors d'oeuvres, followed by dinner, then the meeting and then dessert.

The Petersens were thanked for hosting the gathering and to Cathy for cooking a ham. Also thanked were Carolyn and Sue for doing the calling.

Bob Meyer didn't have anything more to report on LaPetite.

Gabor wasn't present, but the Haymans said they had been contacted and Gabor told them he has rooms reserved at the Marriott at Mt. Tremblaunt. Also, the Kears were planning on going as well.

Tellie reported on Garnet Hill (near Gore Mountain). Accommodations right there are $80.00 per person, per night, which includes 2 meals (breakfast and dinner) and skiing. The Haymans forgot to bring information on Garnet Hill that Bill Lewis gave them. Tellie felt that it was too late now to make reservations. There seemed to be an interest in skiing there with the club, so Bill and Dorothy said they would get the information from the Haymans and check it out for next year.

The Meyers reported that they saw Barb and Bruce Conroe at the Middle School. They are well and asked the Meyers to send their regards to everyone.

The Partches have heard from Ed and Peg Stevens. They are doing well also. Ed has one more year before he retires and then they'll be moving to the Carolinas.

Russ reported he has heard from Morien and he is going to Wales for 3 weeks. He hasn't sold his home in Potsdam yet and really isn't trying all that hard.

Dave Bray remembered to pay his remaining $2.00 dues without Dorothy having to remind him. In making sure Dave kept straight, Bill Petersen questioned why Dave was only paying $2.00. After a complicated explanation from Dave about having the Burns' dues, subtracting the cost of a turkey, etc., Bill Petersen didn't pursue the reason any further.

The Lowells will be leaving for Florida right after Christmas and will call when they return in May.

The next meeting at the Nelsons was discussed. If there isn't any snow to ski on on Saturday, the 9th of January, then the Nelsons are definitely going to have it with or without snow on the 16th. Everyone can always bring your hiking boots, and then enjoy the soup and sandwich afterwards. Skiing at 2:00 with the soup and sandwich meeting at 4:30.

Sue Gibbs and Joanne Partch volunteered to call for the January meeting. Dorothy gave them the calling lists.

Dorothy read the ornament exchange rules. Cathy & Bill Petersen had #1. Not only did they get an ornament, but inside it was 2 ski passes at Whiteface Mt. No one took it from Cathy - probably figured she gets the next to the last pick and would take it back anyway. A number of hot ornaments were stolen throughout the night. As last year, Doris couldn't seem to hang on to any of the ones she picked. Instead of a ski pole missing from an ornament this year, the Haymans' ornament was lacking a skate blade and the Nelsons got a skiing ornament that needed assembling as one ski and 2 poles were with the ornament, but unattached.

The Beans sent a box of fruit again this year and the Meyers won the drawing for it.

I don't know how anyone had room to eat anymore, but a few people were anxious for the ornament exchange to end so they could have dessert.

Gathering Adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,

Dorothy Mein
