Potsdam Apres Ski Club
Meeting Hosts: Bob and Susan Meyer
May 6, 2000
The Derby Day Ski Club meeting was held at the home of Bob and Susan Meyer. Your secretary did a little better job of remembering who was in attendance. Russ and Heather Nelson, Judy Lowell, Dave and Tellie Bray, Joan LaComb and Paul McGrath, Bill and Dorothy Mein, Buckley Riggs, Margaret and Jim Thorp, Bob and Shirley Metcalf, Bob and Susan Meyer, Gene Kaczka and Sue Gibbs all enjoyed the Derby.
After the Derby was run, the winners collected their earnings. We seem to recollect that Shirley Metcalf was among the winners. Your secretary did well to break even!
The meeting was called to order (such as it ever is in Ski Club) at 6:50. The minutes of the March meeting were read. In connection with this, someone recalled that in March Bob Burns suggested that the group institute an "Automotive Design Prize". This month there is another car that is obviously in the process of redesign in the driveway. Judy Lowell gets this month's Automotive Redesign Award.
It was reported that Dick and Joann Partch are in Louisville for pre-Derby partying with the Fribergs. They are supposed to have enjoyed a black tie event - the Kentucky Colonel's Dinner - on Friday evening. We'll expect a report on the event in July.
Congratulations were extended to Shirley Metcalf. She graduates this year with a degree in Business Administration and Psychology from Clarkson.
The next order of business involved discussion of upcoming meetings. The summer meeting will be at the Kear's sometime in July or August. Dick Partch indicated he'd be willing to do a lamb. (Many thanks, Dick!!) Dorothy Mein volunteered to do the summer calling. In other upcoming meeting business, it was noted that the September meeting will be at the Gibbs', Metcalfs have volunteered for the October meeting, and Nelson's are on for the January ski/soup/sandwich meeting.
As a final item of business, we continued the tradition of passing the baton to our president and secretary for next year. Bob and Sue Gibbs were nominated and graciously accepted the nomination. (I guess they aren't afraid to attempt the taming of the crew for a year!) They were elected by acclamation. Congratulations!
The Meyer's want to express their appreciation to everyone for a good year. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed the companionship of everyone in the group. Thanks, folks.
Respectfully submitted,
Susan Meyer
