This is the "Ski Club Derby Day Dress" photo line-up for this year.
Please cast your vote for both the Lady and the Gentleman you think is
most deserving
to be called the winner for 2001.
The meeting was called to order at 7:36, following a delicious barbecued- pork-and-fixings dinner (which, in turn, followed the annual Run for the Roses. It should be noted that the Frazers did very well with their Derby bets!)
New members Sue and Bob Northrop were warmly welcomed. Also present were Dave and Tellie Bray, Joe and Jutta Fitzsimmons, Ron and Doris Frazer, Bob and Sue Gibbs, Gene and Carolyn Kaczka, Judy Lowell, Bob and Shirley Metcalf, Bob and Susan Meyer, Russ and Heather Nelson, and Bill and Cathy Petersen.
Carolyn and Gene were thanked for their gracious hospitality (and for the barbecued pork!), and Shirley and Jutta were thanked for serving as callers for the meeting. They kindly offered to do the same for the lamb roast on August 4th.
The minutes of the April meeting were read and approved. The treasurer reported a current balance of $184.50, after reimbursement for tonight's pork, the contribution of one dollar to the Derby "pot", the purchase of a sympathy card for Crystal and Bill Hayman following the death of her father, and the addition of three sets of dues for next year. (Later on during the evening $15.00 more in "future dues" were received.)
Old Business: Judy Lowell suggested that the calling lists be updated to include "911" addresses, as well as telephone numbers. Also, thanks were expressed to the current president and secretary/treasurer for their service during the past year.
New Business: The Meyers reminded members of the upcoming wedding of their daughter Michelle in Texas in three weeks, and invited any Ski Club members who plan to be in the area at that time to join them. (To date, only Russ Nelson has plans to be in Houston, so he will have to represent the rest of us!) A happy addition to that information is the fact that Michelle received a clean bill of health at her last check-up.
A question was raised regarding appropriate dress for Derby Day, especially the garb of the president. Gene wondered if the fashion statement being made was perhaps intended to set the style for future presidents. The response was, "No! I was just following recommendations from the last meeting!"
With no additional business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:50.

Respectfully submitted,
Sue Gibbs, secretary
P.S. Thanks for the opportunity of serving this year. We truly enjoyed it!
