A momentous event captured for all to see.

Bob Burns paying his dues early in the season!

The October meeting was held at the Mein's. A (partial) list of those present: Bob and Shirley Metcalf, Margaret and Jim Thorp, Bob and Ellen Burns, Bill and Trish Lewis, Bill and Dorothy Mein, Dave and Tellie Bray, Bill and Kathy Petersen, Dick and Joanne Partch, Paul McGrath and Joan LaComb, and Bob and Susan Meyer. Abject apologies from the secretary to anyone in attendance whose name got left out.
The evening started with hors d'oeuvres and the meeting. It was an early express meeting because Bob and Susan had to leave so they could hear Julia perform with the Orchestra of Northern New York. A meeting before dinner, with this group? It was a first!
The minutes of the September meeting were read, with a fair amount of interjection from the peanut gallery. Shirley amplified the minutes with a description of the arrangement the club sent to Judy Lowell. The secretary reported that Judy had sent a note to the club thanking us for our thoughts.
She also noted that everyone should visit the club web site. Dave Bray has put up a memorial note about Doc that is very nice. On a lighter note, it was observed that the club web site is getting a lot of hits. Dick Partch said that most of those are people hitting with a hammer.
Many thanks to the Meins for hosting us and to Tellie and Shirley for calling everyone.
The business portion of the meeting centered around discussion of the ski trips and dues. We have a full house for La Petite on Feb. 4-6. Deposit has been sent to Suzanne. Shirley mentioned that if anyone is interested in a downhill trip, they will be at Tremblant January 21-22. Contact Shirley if you're interested.
Then it was announced that dues were due. Bill Petersen said he'd pay as soon as Burns did, and Burns did. Kind of forced Bill's hand. He paid, too. Dick Partch handed the secretary $10 Canadian. An exchange for $10 US was quickly negotiated!
A volunteer was sought for the November meeting. Joanne volunteered and said she didn't know if Dick would be in town or not, but she'd do the November meeting. Bill Petersen had the temerity to ask if she really needed Dick! The meeting will be at 6:00 on Saturday the 20th and Shirley Metcalf will call everyone. [Shirley is out of town, so Joan LaComb graciously did the calling honors for Shirley - thanks, Joan!]
Dave and Tellie Bray have volunteered for the December ornament exchange. They won't be at the November meeting, so we settled the details for December as well. The ornament exchange will be on December 18 at 6:00 at the Bray's. Tellie will do a ham.
The meeting ended on a bit of a rushed note (concert time was fast approaching). Dick Partch said that this was a first. He'd never before left a ski club meeting with an empty stomach!
