What does it say? Look down to the shirt.
Who's inside this shirt?
Of course you know!

Hosts: Susan and Bob Meyer
|
Members Present: Bob and Susan Meyer, Shirley and Bob Metcalf, Buckley Riggs, Dorothy and Bill Mein, Judy Lowell, Heather and Russ Nelson, Tellie and Dave Bray, and Trish and Bill Lewis The event really started (as always) with the food. Everyone enjoyed a selection of baked ziti, beans with ham, and chicken, lots of good veggies, and delicious desserts. Tellie’s angel food cake and fruit + Judy’s cookies were out of this world. We did have one switcharoo. When Dave went out to take pictures of the desserts, he told the table to not let anyone take his plate away. Tellie had already gone to get her coffee and dessert. When Tellie got back, she looked hard at her plate – it had some food still on it, and that isn’t what she remembered. Dave got back – asked where his food had gone. Unknown to them, there was a plate switcharoo by Dorothy. The confused expressions were priceless! Bob called the meeting to order at 8:21. Then there was a pause – it seemed that the kitchen needed a few more minutes. Call to “real” order came at 8:22. Minutes and non-minutes were read. For what may be the first time in recorded history, there was a correction – but to the non-minutes: Ed and Lorraine Kear were also among the snowbirds present at the July meeting. Bob read the letter written to Clarkson to send with the club’s donation to the Frazer Memorial Fund as well as the letter of acknowledgement from Paul Julien concerning the donation. It was duly noted that with the receipt, the club is off the hook on taxes for 2011. (That’s a relief, never thought about filing a Ski Club tax return!!) Treasurer’s report – before lamb roast, balance was $82.55. Lamb roast + charcoal was $115. We were clearly in deficit. Bob and Susan looked at deficit and the expenses for meals last year to figure out what dues for this year should be. The upshot is that it looks like we need ~$350 to get through next July. This includes the one-time expense for the donation in Ron’s memory and the anticipated meal expenses for the upcoming year. Suggestion going forward: $15 per person for this year should do the trick. Shirley said “So moved”, seconded by Joan. Unanimous vote followed. The idea is that we will go back to $10 per person next year assuming the expenses are in line. Don’t want to leave much of a balance - just want to pay the bills. The discussion then turned to La Petite. We have one cabin for the first weekend in February. Dorothy and Bill can’t come this year. There is a potential problem. We will try to get enough for 4 bedrooms – Bob and Susan, Russ, Debbie, someone else. Let’s see what can be arranged. (Post-meeting note: Mel and Sandy Tomalty will be joining the LaPetite crew again this year, so the cabin seems occupied.) Last item of business – who assumes the role of president/secretary? Last year Bob and Susan agreed to assume the responsibility for one year. Russ and Heather have agreed for this year. (Many thanks from Bob and Susan.) Admonition – next year someone else has to agree to take it on. It just is not that hard. Thanks to Dave for making it really easy to post menus and contact the club membership. Well, that was almost the last item. The topic of the Christmas meeting remained on the agenda. For Christmas, we want to reach out to Doris to encourage her to come to the Christmas ornament exchange. This year’s meetings will be Christmas, January, Derby Day, July. Bill and Trish Lewis volunteered for Christmas. Date chosen is Sunday, December 11 – 4PM. With the notice that dues are $15 per person, $30 per couple and dates are pending for January and Derby Day, adjournment is in order. Thanks to all from Bob and Susan for a wonderful year, and we transfer the gavel. Adjourned. Respectfully submitted,
Oh, but we’re not done --Russell’s meeting opens. (So why is Susan still doing the minutes?? Well, just because.) Russell thanks Bob and Susan for hosting this meeting and also for the past year as president/secretary. Russell then adjourns the meeting. Has to be the shortest non-non-meeting ever! |
