It was the second of what I call "comfoquilts". The top was pieced and quilted to a batting (no backing fabric); the backing was a whole cloth quilt, also quilted to a batting. The two pieces were then layered and tied. The first was made for his brother Kevin. Alec sleeps on the top bed with Kevin below.
