Hannah's Fantasy Garden

The quilt was made for a Granddaughter. I first made her a wall hanging expanding on the familiar "Grandma's Flower Garden" block and still had ideas to explore so the full size quilt was the result.
I made a variety of forms and then laid them out and fitted them together like a jigsaw puzzle. "Leaves" and "sky" pieces were inserted to fill in where the "flowers" did not completely interlock. I pieced in sections, as I found arrangements that pleased me I joined them. Then I fitted sections together. At the end I made specific "flowers" to fit a given space.

This detail highlights the curved border. The edges of the hexagons were smoothed before binding.
Hannah helped with the layout of the first section, and the blue "flower" is the one she picked for the center. She then chose what should surround it. But after this start I carried on by myself through the winter months as she does not live close by.
She named the quilt.

Size is double bed with a deep drop.
All work done by hand.
